New Year’s Resolutions and Conversation

New Year’s Resolutions are like the weather. Everybody talks about them, but nobody does anything about them. Okay, I exaggerate. A little. I always make a resolution I can keep because it makes me feel good about myself. Here’s a terrific one I make year after year: “I resolve not to make any more resolutions this year.” You’re welcome to borrow it.

It’s already January 6th, so here are some good conversation questions in case you’ve already asked everybody the usual “What are your resolutions for 2009?”

  • How are you doing so far with your New Year’s resolutions?
  • What were your resolutions last year? Were you successful with any of them? If so, how did you pull it off?
  • If you didn’t make any resolutions, did you set any personal or professional goals for 2009?

My friend and book coach Sam Horn came up with some excellent conversation questions. Here are a couple from her blog:

  1. Looking back, what are two highlights from the past year? Experiences, achievements that stand out, went well, were fun, memorable?
  2. Who is someone who influenced me this past year? What did this person say or do that has had lasting impact?

Sam’s one of the best conversationalists on the planet. Read the rest of her December 24, 2008 post at <a href=”http://samhornpop.wordpress.com/” rel=”nofollow”>

Have you made any unusual resolutions? Tell me in the comment section.

Happy New Year!
